Media
Everyone has something to say and wants to be heard by others. The media is a powerful communication tool. The messages communicated through mass media, however, are often hidden or untrue. God calls us to be wise as serpents and as gentle as doves (Matthew 10:16). For this reason, it is important for students to be taught to discern what messages are being conveyed and assisted to develop skills to communicate purposeful, positive messages to others.
Media Studies emphasises a hands-on approach to video and television production, making use of the college's specialized equipment, including 7 cameras, 5 editing suites, live-studio control room and special effects studio.
Media is especially suited for students considering the following careers: script writer, journalist, advertising executive, graphic designer, radio announcer, camera person, sound engineer, lighting technician, video editor, video director, producer, film critic and film reviewer. However, there are many and varied roles to be filled in the evolving world of the Media and the skills built throughout the course are transferable to a range of careers.
