Senior High English is a prerequisite for every tertiary course and forms an essential foundation for communication in every occupation. The study of English develops students’ abilities a range of language and literary competencies. The key aims of the Senior High English course offered by Toowoomba Christian College are to:
- Develop students’ ability to comprehend and communicate the love and truth of God by creatively and critically engaging with texts
- Develop students’ knowledge of the relationship between language, thought and culture, and;
- Develop students’ ability to use language appropriately, effectively, purposefully, aesthetically and critically to participate in communities and cultures.
For students not desiring to continue onto tertiary study, English Communication is also offered as a subject in Senior High.
